ECOWAS Election Observers meet Thiendella Fall, others as Senegal warms up for Sunday’s Parliamentary Elections

A delegation of ECOWAS Election Observers are meeting with Police Commissioner Tanor Thiendella Fall, Director General of Elections (Directeur général des élections), and other stakeholders in the Senegalese capital Dakar, ahead of Sunday’s (31st July) Parliamentary Polls.

According to Ecowas, its delegation is headed by S. E Kadré Désiré OUEDRAOGO. The group had on Friday met with officials of Senegal’s Foreign Affairs ministry, the President of the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA), and the Director General in charge of Elections Thiendella Fall, and Civil Society Organisations.

PC Fall is the man who rejected the Proportional List of Yewwi Askan Wii, for failing to meet the electoral law criteria.

The said list contained the names of key Opposition figures like Ousman Sonko, leader of PASTEF, Aida Mbodj , Malick Gackou, leader of Grand Parti, Cheikh Tidiane Youm of the PUR party, Habib Sy, a former minister under ex-president Abdoulaye Wade, Mr. Sy was also one-time a director of Cabinet under Wade, Cheikh Abdoulaye Dieye, a former minister under President Macky Sall and Mr. Dieye is a former Mayor of St. Louis, Dethie Fall who formed his own party recently called PRP, Bassirou Diomaye Faye of PASTEF, etc.
